I have a 18 by 24 foor shop with crushed limestone as a floor. Approx 5 tons in a layer 3 to 4 inches thick. My treadle hammer & the power hammer are bolted to pads made of 4 by 4 salt-treated timbers. The pads are approx 3 feet square. When I need to modify the floor, a mattock works well.
