Welcome to the 20th century Paul. Of course the 21st. 
century started a few years back but it's a step in the 
right direction anyway. <grin>

Yes, mig is much cleaner but more finicky. Before you 
start welding things of a structural nature you really 
should take a welding class. People can get hurt if 
something that counts is welded poorly.

Sounds like you got a good deal and you will NOT regret 
the increase in your metal working capacity.

It IS better to have it and not need it than need it 
and not have it.
