Unless the furnace guys are completely derelict, copper 
is safe, we have a good 25' leading from the tank to 
the boiler and it's all made up with brass fittings. 
Bronze dielectics where it makes up to the cast iron 
fittings at the tank and boiler fuel pump. Mechanics at 
work use brass all the time on the fuel system.

Still, if you want to be positive you could ask the 
fuel oil, furnace, etc. guys close to you.
