-Friends,

I have some sad news to share. On Friday evening my
brother Tom died very suddenly and unexpectedly. We
don't know the cause of death yet, but the doctors
suspect an aneurism. Tom was only 56 (13 months older
than me). He was a woodworker so we did some
collaborative projects; he made the wooden box, chest,
cabinet, etc., and I made the hardware.

This is not a happy Mother's Day for our mother. We
will all miss him.

Aubrey

Sorry to hear about your loss. There is no justice in
this world. When you mentioned aneurism, cerebral or
cardiac? In either case if high blood pressure is an
issue you should know yours and cholesterol status.
Your mother had a bad mother's day unfortunately but
you made no mention of your father. Risk factors in
cardiovascular disease are genetically transmitted.
That should be a wake up call to you in terms of risk
profiles. THis hits close to home both from the fact
that we are both the same age and my father had a near
fatal MI at 43. Nature and nurture influence our
outcomes, but 10% of us have congenital berry
aneurisms, there are other risks that are modifiable
through lifestyle. Again,my condolences. I would hope
that the longevity seen in symphony conductors through
upper body motion is also seen in smiths, discounting
sulfur coal fumes and welding gases.

Lee
