There is a great set of Yellin gates out in a plaza right at the south
end of Lincoln Park, out by Lake Shore Drive. I think its part of
Northwestern.
The Art Institute of Chicago is the museum I think you are thinking
of. Not far.
The Chicago Historical Society sometimes has interesting exhibits.
Just walking the miracle mile, you see lots of cool stuff- the wrigley
building and the trib building are both great.
I would visit the Anish Kapoor sculpture in Millenium park as well.
Its metal- a giant stainless steel "egg"- not exactly blacksmithing,
but a pretty interesting bit of metalworking nonetheless, its official
name is "cloud gate".

I've already spotted some bits of ironwork on buildings near my hotel
(near Dearborn and Division).
Can anyone point me to other nice ironwork, here or points north?
Also, which museum is it that has the wonderful armor exhibit - an art
museum IIRC?
Wouldn't mind knowing of a decent restaurant or pub nearby, not too
loud.
All assistance appreciated.
