One is hemostats. These are locking clamps in
stainless steel used to
close
off (clamp) in surgery. I have sometimes seen them in
a few catalogs
but
think I picked mine up at flea markets for a few
dollars each. Someone
that
maybe able to tell you where to find some a low cost
is your friendly
vet.
When i worked locum tenens in New Mexico, all the ER's
found it cheaper to buy Pakistani/indian surgical
instruments in disposable form, instead of sterilizing
instruments. Amazing, a kelly clamp, forceps, scissor
and needle holder for 6 dollars.
thanks Ron, Andy, Dave et al. for the spring info.
I had an old feathered edge leaf spring that i found
in the field while digging. I heated it and it formed
large crystals and was so hard it dulled my carbide
blade to worthlessness. Does that make sense to
anyone. the crystals were at one side of the spring
and the other side cut like normal steel with sheen.
the hard side was brittle and cracked under the blade
cutting on a vertical lie, and horizontally it was
just polished by the carbide blade.
something new and fascinating every day.
