That is in fact BIG.  To the best of my knowledge the largest open die 
forging press in the USA is the 10,000 ton press at Lehigh Heavy Forge (used 
to be Beth Forge).  The press in the article is 15,000 tons.  The USA has 
two 50,000 ton closed die presses originally owned by the Air Force.  They 
were built by either Mesta, or United, I don't remember which.  The Russians 
built two 70,000 ton closed die presses, one that is in Russia the other 
they sold to the French.

I saw the 10,000 ton open die press at Lehigh run back in the 90's --  
something special to see a press this big work.  This is where all of the 
guns for the US Navy big battleships were forged.
