Thanks for posting this Andy.  Remarkably similar to the tools I am making. 
Without a power hammer, though, I am reconciled to making trowel, hoe blades 
out of thin plate stock and welding/riveting to the handles.  Several 
tools -- cultivators and weeders -- however are out of 3/8 1045.  I will be 
in a production run, so hate to rely on scrap.
