Hi Lynn:
If you are going to cut a lot of sheet metal, forget the propane and
get an acetylene cutting attachment and a sheet/plate cutting tip. It
has 1 or 2 preheats and a small oxy jet for cutting. Victor used to make
them for most models...other brands like Smith have a "drag type"
version with 1 preheat and a high spot to ride on the sheet.
It should make a kerf like a plasma cutter and zip right along.
If you get the settings and speed of travel just right, the slag just
peels off.
Alternately..the rude solution is to start the cut, then lay your torch
on it's side, cut sideways, and move fast. The cut on the outside of the
curve is gonna be ugly.
If your current set up is overpowering the problem, lower the oxy
pressure most, and move as fast as possible without losing the cut.
