Also, I've heard that drinking a lot of soft drinks can lead to weak
bones because your body uses a lot of calcium to neutralize the acid.

Still there's nothing like a good cold coke on a hot day. It's just one
of those things, like a cold beer after working on a car.

Takes a lot of soda to leach out the calcium from bones. we breathe out carbon dioxide, the bubbled former of carbonic acid that is soda, if it builds up we just breathe a little faster or deeper for a brief time. Much more leaching is the fixed acids sulfur and phosphorous based from a meat-based diet. When acids build up the kidneys absorb bicarbonate as a buffer in the long term but that mechanism takes a few days
