[TheForge] propane vs coal vs charcoal

This generally desribes the iindirect, or retort process.  I would like to 
know whether an airstream could be introduced into the flammable gas 
return -- either by venturi or blower -- to maximize the heat efficiency of 
that flame.  Anybody ever see this on a charcoal retort burner?
