You know the whole third world thing is the agri-biz tycoons fault.
used to be most people were self sufficient and did not need much
income. Now instead of growing what they need farmers grow what they
can sell and often starve. I saw a piece recently about apoor
rancher. The price for his sheep was so low that his children were
starving. I say why don't they just eat the sheep and it does not
matter what theyare selling for. I got into this craft to make at
least a small step toward self sufficiency but I am still a wage
slave.
At a Rocky Forge meeting last fall the intro from a early 1900 book
on blacksmithing was read. It ended with "we are moving from a
community of independent craftmen to a nation of wage slaves." I see
much nation and not much community.
