I didn't miss the inexpensive part. I have just had two crucible failures
and do not suggest the use of a metal crucible. I you do want to go down
that road Walmart has small stainless kitchen ware that will work for a one
time use. Be aware that the pouring temp of bronze is close to the melting
temp of the stainless. Try not to aim your flame at the crucible. It will
keep the crucible alive longer.

You missed the cheep. To buy a real crucible is going to be 50 to 100 bucks.
For that I might as well have the plate made. Which will lose the "made from
the scrap idea" The pipe idea might work I need to look in the scrap pile.
