Tig welding with a dc welder buzz is fairly workable I
frequently use my craftsman ac/dc buzz box ,I run dc-
but need to double check that. I bought a tig torch
with a valve on the handle off ebay .You need a
regulator and pure argon gas . When I started I
thought I could use the 75argon25 co2 since had it for
the mig and well.. its mostly argon.I spent a bunch of
time thinking I would never get the hang of scratch
start tig.I have found 3/32 2% thoriated covers most
of my needs I buy them in ten packs so I can have all
of them pointed at the beginning of a project.Tig
welding is bad for flash burns keep your skin covered
and gloves are a must.
A search for scratch start tig on the forums on
aws.org (american welding society) may prove helpful
there is a ton of info there.
I am not an expert so your mileage from this info may
vary. Aaron Craig
