Left Northern VA for Arizona.  Best move I ever made!
Very little smithing now, sold off most of my shop back east and no place to
set one up here. Just a temporary spot to make more tools I use for copper
repousse and raising.  (Back to the 100lb Brooks I started with in 1980 and
a whisper baby.)

Welcome back, Chris!  Where are you living now and what are you up to?

It looks like the bottom taper would fit into the top of an upright support
post and the top section bolts through the floor above or a rafter.  Was
thinking of chain hooks.

Saw it with IE ver. 7.0     Back on theforge after a 2 year break and a
cross country move.

That is along the lines of what I was thinking, but what would the
bottom tapered section be used for?

One suggestion is that it is for hanging animals on in a slaughterhouse.
