[TheForge] Zinc soldering

I wouldn't put it that way: I would say "Zinc stains really badly". I just
rebuilt a 100 year old peanut warmer at the general store where I work part
time. It has a lot of zinc, particularly a drawer and a holding bin. OK
maybe it hasn't been cleaned in 50 years but let me tell you it was nasty.
The oak case has a bautifu;l old world patina etc , but the zinc has a nasty
machine shop zinc oxide puke green multilayered grungy crust that is a one
of a kind expression of why God gave us the Superfund. And that's on the
clean parts. Zinc and food preparation mix like oil and really heavy metal
contaminated crankcase sludge.
