If you are using a side-draft flue and want it to draw correctly, you will want a 10" flue. Otherwise, an 8" will work ok.

The flue will have to be an approved insulated flue where it passes through concealed spaces such as attics and also your roof structure.

The flue should extend a minimum of 2'-0" above the highest structure (including your sloping roof) that is within 10'-0" of the flue.

You must also support and adequately brace your flue.

Check your local codes for wood stove flues and follow those rules.

Subject: [TheForge] coal forge flues

I am moving my forge and find myself dealing with the building inspector. He
is a nice guy but I am trying to find info on what size pipe to use for the
flue. also what needs done where the flue exits the building so as to put
his mind to rest, and to get me back to work. any help will be great. Thanks
Allen
