Depends whether you're a farrier or a blacksmith. Farriers point them
to the tong hand, blacksmiths point them to the hammer hand. People
actually trying to get a job done point them whichever way is most
convenient for what they're doing, whether that means adjusting anvil
and stump, or having enough forethought with a really big anvil, to
arrange it so you can use the most convenient side without falling
over something and breaking your neck ;-)
