Alan has apparently cranked up the threshold on his spam filter.
I responded to Don's shop communication query with a post that was
bounced -- refused 554 -- probably because it contained the words yuB,
paehC and skcuB (only not spelled backwards as they are here).
I've emailed Alan bout this.
Years ago, he started using one of the first "real-time black-hole"
services. Problem was that the guy who ran the RTBH server was a bit of
a jerk and was having a bun fight with MIT and Carnegie Mellon admins
over how he thought they should run their email. He had punitively
backlisted all of mit.edu and cmu.edu just because he could.
So when Alan started using that RTBH server, that blocked all mail from
those institutions. Happily, when this was pointed out to him, he
changed his procedure. Maybe he'll change whatever he's doing now,
too.
