Best is salt water. Just look at any steel that has been in salt or
brackish water for a while. It gets deep, shiny pits. The downside is
that it takes time.
Another thing you can try is cat urine. That has to be some of the most
horrifically corrosive stuff on the planet. It is the only thing I know
of that turns stainless steel jet black.
