Yeah, like that, although I was more thinking of  Ernst Haeckel's
drawings of radiolaria.

My father told me about encountering Jimpson weed in Texas but,
although it's said to grow in the east, I've never seen it.  Hadda
google up a pic of the pod.  The railroad spike ball would probably be
more, well, prickly, unless you made a spherical sheet metal shell
instead of just a temporary form.
