Exactly and the better saws have crowned wheels.
Unfortunately some of the cheapies rely on precise
adjustment and even more unfortunately can seldom be
adjustmented well enough.
The slack in the idler wheel is a method of
automatically adjusting band tracking but a little too
much or a slightly off frame or too tightly adjusted
and they make more problems than they solve.
Crowned wheels are far better.
