I used the ones WD-40 gave away with the gallon can and 
they were a little shorter than the aerosol can.

And like Andy says WD-40 doesn't leave a protective 
coating so it won't prevent rust in the future. For 
preventative I prefer LPS-3 it leaves a durable wax 
film that holds up outdoors for several years, even 
here in the frozen far north.

I like CRS too and Marvel Mystery oil is a good 
penetrant and lubricant, smells better than all the 
rest too.
