Plugging the held end of pipe with fiberglass
insulation stops the heat from transfering faster than
the norm. You still don't want to quench it by dunking
it in a tub as the insulation won't stop a hearty blast
of boiling water from firing out the end.
Instead, lay it across the slack tub and using a dipper
pour water over it.
