The old style cleats are dead easy to make. You need 1-1/4"X 1/8" bar
stock,a chisel ,a punch and a pair of pliers. Measure the instep of the
shoe or boot and add 2-1/2". Cut on a 45 degree angle from the corners
about 3/4" (farther if the heel is higher) ,punch hole in the center of
the bar on the ends. Then bend the pointy ends down and the bit with the
hole up and add some binder twine or shoe lace for ties and your done.
Heating the stock is optional ,lazy people like me like to do it that way.
