[TheForge] ABANA Dilema

Still 2006 was a "board" conference -- sad to say but many problems of ABANA 
(not all) can be traced to one person who lives in the Northwest and who's 
name starts with a K.  (Any more details and I will get sued.)  He is off 
the board now.  My guess after the success of the 2008 BAM conference (I am 
predicting here) there will be a ABANA conference in 2010 -- at least I hope 
so.

I came to blacksmith through ABANA, after may years in metal working.  Found 
my local groups AACB, and AFC through ABANA's website back in 1996.  I was 
editor of the AACB Newsletter for 6 years.   Retired in Brasstown, NC 
because of blacksmithing and the John C. Campbell Folk School.  Still 
support ABANA and hope it can get over these rough years.  Screwing the 
Southeast didn't help.  Membership has been declining even as blacksmithing 
has been growing.  Hope this trend will get reversed.
