hello mike;

good to hear from you. how is the family?
did you have a good thanksgiving? thanksgiving
day my brother and his family came down for the
day. my sister-in-law had her left hip replaced
in september. she is having the right hip replaced
on 10 dec 2007.

i am bored. currently spend the days watching
the food network and the mythbusters. i do the
cooking and baking. i have been attempting to
use the walker more in the kitchen and stand
more while cooking. i am able to go up and down
the few stairs to the computers from the kitchen
without much trouble.

yesterday, using the walker i walked out to get the
mail. took me a while to walk to the mailbox but i
made it.

yesterday, i was standing more than usual in the kitchen
while cooking. i was able to sit down when i was making
the cream puffs filled with vanilla flavored whipped
cream.

one good thing is that i am able to get my shoes on.
the swelling in the feet and lower legs is getting
less.

toward the late night hours when i am physical and
mentally tired the legs are really painful. the right
shin feels like someone is hitting the place, where the
compound fracture occurred, with a baseball bat.

the left hip is just going to take time to heal.

to sleep i am still taking morphine. on the bad days
even the morphine barely takes the edge off the pain.
tonight is an example of being unable to sleep even
after taking the normal bedtime medications. the legs
are just sore and painful.

the only thing i want for christmas is one day, just
one day, without pain and painkillers. being able to
walk without the walker would be nice but that is more
likely christmas of 2008.
