Robert: Mild steel is fine, that's what I typically use. I'm assuming that
by "strike plate" you mean the plate that the door bolt rides over just
prior to its springing into the bolt mortise on the frame side. Grant

Guys,
I've got a customer that wants me to make a striker plate for his door. The
old one cracked and he needs a replacement.
My question is, what steel should I use? Is mild steel OK? I'm thinking
that the old plate cracked because it was too hard.
