[TheForge] Compressor...Again

Because its draw, the use of the hammer, is "burtsy"?
I just got a bigger, upright 5hp ingersol-rand compressor, hasn't run
yet (some old auction tags on it), and my buddies here were trying to
figure out whether it was built for continuous duty or to cycle on and
off. Apparently it has something to do with the motor control (motor
too?) but not the compressor itself. Anywhoo it looks like mine is a
single-stage. I'll have to call I-R to get the specs, I hear they're
helpful on the phone.
As to having volume, I read some docs online about decommissioned
high-pressure tanks being nice cheap air storage. I guess if you can
find a nice small efficient continuous-duty compressor and
trickle-fill a big tank, that sounds like a good way to go. I'm
hoping to place this unit outside to cut the noise and give it fresh
(albeit damp, here) air, at the suggestion of local smiths.
