Go to the link above, put in your zip code and it will list the Lucas
retailers in your area. I don't think Wal Mart carries it, but the auto
parts stores do, O'Rielly, AutoZone, etc., plus the Detroit Diesel and
Cummins engine shops, truck stops, etc. The quart size is really handy
as you clip off the end and use it as a dispenser. That's how I oil my
hammer. I ran it in my 91 Dodge diesel for 13 years, 1 qt to an oil
change and when I traded it off, still did not use oil.

My little Moloch 25 lb was originally a line shaft hammer. Sid S. in
Nebraska City rebuilt it for me and put a double pulley on the motor. I
think it is about a 3 inch diameter. Run 2 V belts. They are heavy
belts, not the little lightweight ones. And they run LOOSE. I think he
said this does not put any stress on the bearings in the hammer (the
Moloch has bearings in the shaft). There is sufficient traction that
the belts never slip, even with oil everywhere. I keep it well oiled
and greased, and it throws stuff everywhere. I probably put too much
oil on it but that's way cheaper than wearing something out.

Do any of your hammers cycle when running idle? Sometimes my Moloch 25
will continue to cycle when I quit hammering and return to the forge.
Sid Sudemeyer had fabricated a brake mechanism for a 25 lb LG. My wife
drew a sketch of it. While I haven't built one, it seems simple enough
and according to Sid, worked well and stopped the idle cycling. Doesn't
hurt anything but is annoying as all get out.

Just curious.
