Lee, it sounds like a heck of a tool.

Lee,

Can you put a carbide blade in any chop saw? Or do
you need a special
 saw to use the blade?

Aubrey

Aubrey,
they made a specific point not to use the carbide
blade in an ordinary abrasive chop saw. the speed of
the carbide saw is 1300 rpm no load and the abrasive
saw is 4000 rpm. there are issues as Ron mentioned
not to use the blade on aluminum, copper, or stainless
or you would significantly lessen life of the blade. I
dont know exactly how 1500 cuts of 1/2" bar feels,
but i am not wearing the grinding dust or tasting my
dental fillings the same way.
the blades are about 100 dollars but i got a whole
porter cable unit new with blade on ebay for a little
more than twice that. I kept looking for the catch,
and havent found one. it cuts multiple pieces square
when in the same situation the abrasive blades seem to
bend.
Lee
