Mike,

Your email got me thinking of those large iron kettles that farmers used
for butchering pigs. They still aren't  uncommon, but many have now had
holes drilled in the bottoms so that they could be used for planters. The
shape of those are more what I was thinking of when you described the
missionary and the canibal cartoon.

I google searched for two spellings Large Copper Caldrons & then for Large
Copper Cauldrons.
