I pretty much loath the phrase:  "There out to be a law against ..."

So many times we micro-manage small problems with civil and criminal
penalties, to the extent that each and every one of us, simply must fall
in violation of some of some law, of which  we may-not have a clue of
which we are in discord.

"Ignorance of the law is no excuse"

Oh.. and yes, when my kids were little,  I did ocassionally spank their
bottoms when my voice didn't seem to catch their attention.  I don't
remember yelling much, just the softly spoken... phrase, " Your ears don't
seem to be working... maybe a tap on your bottom will fix them".  They are
all adults now, and I believe that they try to stay on the right side of
"right and wrong"
