Terry,

My neighbor has a rig that you screw to the log.  The rig has a winch
at the end, over the end of the log and you turn the winch and your
chainsaw is pulled through the log.  They have made thousands of feet
of lumber and except for the chainsaw quality of the cut you could not
ask for better.  They make it look easy.  If you want I could ask who
makes the thing.
