Actually, that's a rather neat tool.  Like a big can opener.

I printed the picture from the patent (long since expired).  I may have use for one of these.  I can get 5 gal chemical containers free for the taking, and they'd make good gas forge bodies.  But cutting out the ends was an issue and this might be the solution.
