Sorry if I was off-topic, but I know future folk will refer to this
thread for other purposes too,
so please don't fret the "OT" stuff. Lots of things are worth saying,
and only you can decide
what is worth reading. Anywhoo, it is evident from these pictures,
and my memory of animal-
destined branding irons, that thickish flat stock should be used.
OTOH, you mentioned these are decorative pieces, so only you, or your
client(s) can decide
how they should look.
I hope that guy doesn't beat you up :)
The secret to the construction of these things is, wait for it,
get it hot and bang on it.
