The main difference is that your son and daughter have very healthy immune
systems and they are otherwise healthy. Make sure they keep those tetanus
boosters up to date.
With most of the secondary infections that you see in the hospital the patients
immune system is already worn down and then you are ripe for a secondary
infection.
C-Diff is simply a bacterial overgrowth in the gut after the normal flora has
been reduced with antibiotics. The danger is due to the fact that the patient's
body is already ill therefore not able to rally to defend against further
insult. This is were follow up is so very important. It's not enough to just
take an antibiotic and presto you are all better. C-Diff can occur in or out of
the hospital.
I counted today, Started day with 5 min scub, Washed or gelled hands 34 times.
No I do not have OCD. I am rotating in the Neonate ICU.
