Mark, I have seen anvils built up by welding three pcs of 6"x2"x3' to form a
6"x6" sq anvil. And a krazy friend of mine stuffed a bunch of truck axels in
a big pipe and welded them together. (It may work...) The hammer doesn't
care as long as the mass is there.

I am a PIA but I want to know what those more experienced with these hammers
think about certain aspects of building one before I order the parts....

Round stock or square on the anvil? I am about to place the order for this
piece of steel as well as the rest of the steel...hammer head...etc....

Also, at what point in the stroke of the air cylinder do you want the hammer
head to meet the die? If the stroke is 12" would the contact be at the 8-10"
point on the stroke?

Thanks Again Guys
Mark
