What i've seen work, is that there's a day where the public gets
invited into an area that's set up to thrill and educate them
,for little or no cost. There's the gallery where they can admire
and even buy BS and there are the vendors..Further,there's a path
set up, where folks who want more involvement can get some..and
after that there's membership.
I just got my receipt back for the CBA spring conf...admission is
$95, several days, fairgrounds, food vendors or eat at your camp
site....good demos..gallery...vendors..tailgaters....power
hammers and hydraulic presses..and so on...pretty close to world
class for one, um, affiliate.
Shouldn't there be economys of scale coming into play here?...pf

Grover,
The conferences I've seen have been closed to the public. The
blacksmiths had to pay a significant fee to attend, and the
public wasn't going to be welcomed in free. I don't say htat
this is how it should be...

	Ahh. OK, tourist are welcome, but they ain't gonna come. Tourists
are welcomed, in my mind, at any event. But I have seen zero at
conferences.
