[TheForge] Casual events

As far as the SCA-type event goes, it would be easy enough to start...
why don't we just agree to meet up at a campground? Most people have
basic camping equipment, so I don't think the campground would limit too
many people. The only difficult part would be finding a campground that
would allow the fire and noise... it might be necessary to reserve an
area that's a little removed from the main campground.

Having it as a very casual thing would let it start it off small, and
grow it if there's interest. If there's no real interest, then it's not
a big deal...

I'm sure most people wouldn't be able to drive too far, so having
regional "hammer camps" would work better. I'll volunteer to coordinate
one for Southern California... Is any one is interested?

Now youre talking!
Burning Man, Yeah!
Lots of Scantily Clad young people, free booze and other
entertainments, things blowing up and burning, and no capitalism!

Well, except for the multi-million dollar budget. Burning Man is the
largest funder of the arts in California, and California is the 5th
largest economy in the world. They spend several million on grants
for sculptures that will either be burned, or just shown, or driven,
for that few days each year.

Maybe we should just piggyback on Burning Man. We can have the fat
white guy in overalls camp.
Personally, I have always thought of dressing up like a blacksmith as
just another form of drag.
