[TheForge] Bandsaw Blade Welding

If you don't wish to buy a resistance welder, band-saw blades can be sanded on
their ends to matching tapers, placed in an alignment fixture, and silver
brazed; this makes a very durable bond, which is still flexible enough to go
round the wheels without trouble.

Subject: [TheForge] Bandsaw Blade Welding

Being totally green on the subject, do band saw blades have to be welded
w/a band saw welder? Or can they be TIG/MIG welded?

I have 5 coils of STARRETT POWERBAND MATRIX II blades w/some slight rust
that I could use on my saw now as I need to cut some 3/16th plate. I
know that I checked with a few local welders a year or so ago but they
all had a 1/2-3/4" max on their machines. The blades that I have are 1".

Just thought that I would ask before going any further...

Thanks
Mark
