Yes, it is in his book. I read the book several years ago, and it was about the
only thing I found outstanding there in. Most of the information is more of
historical interest than practical value considering how little the tooling
(drills, etc.) are to buy compared to wasting the time to build them.

It's a pretty simple set up. He made a hood that's more
of a lid that swings over the firepot. The lid is
connected via ducting to the intake of the blower. This
recirculates the smoke through the fire and leaves less
going up the stack.
