Yes, you can get propane tips for acet torches. They
work just fine unless you keep track of consumables
over time. They typically use a lot more oxy for the
amount of work done than oxy acet. A torch built from
the regulators to the tip to use propane is far more
economical, using about half the oxy as acet for the
amount of work done and about 1/4 the oxy as the
converted rig.
Do conversion tips work? You bet and if you compare a
converted torch burning propane to one burning acet
it's cheaper to use for the work done in spite of it's
using around twice the oxy. If you compare it to the
purpose built propane torch though it's much less
economical, specifically oxy useage.
