When doing a set of fireplace doors, I contacted a friend of mine who is a
chimney sweep and installs fireplaces pre-fabbed or he custom makes them.
When I asked him about the glass for the doors he said to order a
regular tempered glass or it might have been tempered and high temp. and
that the pyrex stuff was for stoves which retain much more heat. He then
showed me all the pre-made doors in his show room and in a catalog that had
the tempered glass. I priced the doors with the tempered and the pyrex and
let the customer decide.
