Hi Jerry:
My gas supplier was bought out by one of the giant absentee 
companies and the drop off station is often out of my size 
bottles ,so i trade my empties in and take what i can get.
As long as i turn in and take out an equal # of tanks, they don't 
charge me demurrage ( rent).
Perhaps you can quietly exchange your "empty" medical oxygen 
bottles for something more useful to you...pete
