Its rated for steel but I use it on leather also.
Still in good shape.
I etch the same mark on my blades Hammers etc. so I had etching stencils 
made up in several sizes. to match the size of my work

Hey Mark,
When I bought my  touch mark about 12 years ago it was around $120.
It is a dolphin entwined around an anchor with my initials at 3 and 9
o'clock.
Simpler stamps were less expensive.
