Aubrey,
Some of the versions are simple, but others are harder to build; it simply boils
down to a matter of size. None of the larger versions (3/4" and up) are easy to
construct, being lathe turned; 1/2" and smaller are quite simple to build; it's
just how the cards fell. In any case, others will discuss them, whenever one of
them chooses to publish; the other gentleman has quite different plans (classes,
but that is further down the road).

As for me, I've always been way more interested in the equipment burners are
used in, than in tube burners themselves. The only burner designs I would
consider writing about now would be compressed air and fan-blown models, which
were not covered in the original book, but will probably be included in the
Diffusion Joining text along with hand-torch modifications (this is now to
become book three; book two will be on carbon-arc wizardry); any of you who have
built the miniature scarfing torch know by now that "wizardry" is not an
overblown term; however...

A little birdie done whispered in my ear, saying that another fellow is
presently engaged in writing an article on burners (for the Hammer's Blow?). The
man in question knows as much as I do about what goes where and why during
burner design/construction (our views do not agree to the point of boredom, but
are pretty close). What is not known is how much and how long he has been
contributing to hobby burner design; a lot and for a long time. My own work
would never even have begun if not for his early (and unsung) contributions; so,
your curiosity may well receive a good scratching from an unexpected
source--very soon.
Mikey
