[TheForge] Burner angle conflagrations...

Actually, Frosty:
Bad things happen to the crucible, after which, the melt pours out through the
new hole, thus tending to make bad things happen to the burner...unless the
furnace features an emergency drain hole; in which case, bad things happen to
the floor (unless a sand filled emergency catch box was positioned below the
furnace in advance); this is especially true if the floor is wooden.
The sand box is, however, no guaranty of safety; if through inattention on the
part of its attendant your cat is permitted to use it for a different kind of
box, a smelly 'steam' explosion may ensue, reversing the molten stream's
trajectory, possibly causing bodily injury. To add insult, severe nose clamping,
accompanied by much public disapproval, may have to be endured in the hospital's
emergency room.
On the other hand, liquid metal flowing into the burner, and then catching the
fuel hose on fire can also be exciting; either path tends toward much ringing of
hands and "screaming like a girl," while the building goes up (and then falls
down).
Alas, fire departments never arrive in time to save the structure; only to
prevent its being neatly consumed; provoking several trips to the dump. Thus
you're at the dump while "in the dumps", so to speak, so at least your mood will
be appropriate; that is, if you can get away from your insurance adjuster's
awkward questions long enough to do anything constructive.
Perhaps, the whole mess can be put down to high spirited frolicking around if
you do all your casting on The Fourth; otherwise, I'm afraid the neighbors are
bound to notice all such conflagrations. In any case, your wife is certain
notice, necessitating the building of a dog house; fortunately a ready to hand
site should have become available at this point, thus ending the whole incident
on an upbeat note. I think that's very important, don't you? >:-)))

My pleasure Harry.
If you want to use it as a melting furnace too, then
you have to mount the burner(s) tangentially. The fire
has to circulate around the crucible or bad things
happen to the melt.
