Hexavalent chromium is an issue mostly when welding stainless and to  
a lesser degree when grinding stainless but not while using it even  
as a fire pot it is not going to get hot enough to vaporize the  
chrome. You definitely need proper  ventilation/fume removal when  
welding it though.
