[TheForge] Coal Forges - lets try this again

Jerry,
That forge should work just fine. I think the responses you got earlier were from the sticker shock most of us do-it-yourselfers experience when we see the prices of forges from places like Centaur. There is nothing wrong with spending good money on good tools. But, about $800 to $900 of that $1000+ price tag is for the convenience of having someone else build it for you. So, if you have the money, and do not have the time, tools, skills, or desire to build one yourself, then go for it. I, for one, would rather buy a hammer than make one myself. But, I have built two forges from scratch and I have refurbished 3 antique forges. They all did the job.
There are plenty of serviceable used forges out there too. But, again, it takes time and the joy of the hunt to locate them. Centaur sells convenience.
Aubrey

Folks,
I am not into using brake drums and tire rims. How
about this style of forge:
http://www.centaurforge.com/prodinfo.asp?number=C536
I have limited space and this forge will be moved in
and out of shop so I can work outside.
Jerry
